Abandoned car mystery solved

WEST KELOWNA, BC – The mystery behind the discovery of an abandoned car has been solved.

The car was found 50 metres down a steep embankment off Westside Road last Friday but the driver was nowhere to be found.

Officials launched an extensive search for the driver fearing the person may have been ejected from the vehicle.

Police say the driver — a 40-year-old West Kelowna woman — has come forward.

She told police that she was alone in the vehicle and that she only suffered minor injuries.

The unidentified woman managed to walk to Bear Creek where she flagged down a vehicle and caught a ride home.

It’s not clear why the car left the narrow, winding road.
