The RCMP Serious Crimes Unit has been called in to investigate after human remains were found in a field east of Calgary.
A man who was doing some clean up on his property on Monday night called police, after finding bones and a skull in some bushes and trees.
The discovery was made near Range Road 280 and Township 232, near the hamlet of Indus.
The Missing Persons Unit is helping to identify the deceased.
RMCP say at this point they can’t say whether the death is suspicious.
“We don’t know what the manner of death is,” says Sgt. Patricia Neely. “That is something the medical examiner will work to determine.”

Neely says it appears the remains had been there for some time.
Creig Antliff, who farms nearby, told Global News the area has been a trouble spot for years, ever since a farm house and trailer on the property were abandoned.
“There’s always something going on down there,” Antliff says. “People dump stuff there and they party there a little bit. It’s an area where people go to do things they shouldn’t be doing.”
