It was organized by the Cornwall based community project The Wave Project – alongside Surfing GB and The UK Pro-Surf Tour, and is part of the 2012 Learning Disabilities Week. The Wave Project was started by a group of surfers in Newquay, Cornwall who wanted to use the freedom and fun of surfing as a way of helping disadvantaged young people to feel happier.
