Manslaughter charge laid in death on Sturgeon Lake First Nation

RCMP have laid a charge in relation to the death of a man on Sturgeon Lake First Nation this past weekend.

An unresponsive man was initially reported at a home around 10 a.m. on July 14.

EMS declared Darwin Naytowhow, 48, dead upon their arrival.

Preliminary investigation has determined the cause of death to be suspiciousPrince Albert RCMP said.

Ryan Kyle Daniels, 40, is charged with manslaughter and will be held in custody until his next Prince Albert provincial court appearance on July 25.

Both men are from Sturgeon Lake First Nation.

RCMP said on July 15 they believed there was no threat to public safety.

The major crime unit south investigated with the help of forensic identification section members and the Saskatchewan coroner’s service.

Sturgeon Lake First Nation is approximately 145 kilometres north of Saskatoon.
