CALGARY- An ACAD instructor has been let go, following a controversial incident in the school’s cafeteria.

Back in April, a student slaughtered a chicken with a knife in front of some horrified onlookers. According to police, the act was the student’s interpretation of a school assignment to hold a public protest.

After the incident, ACAD released a statement saying in part: “We are currently working with Faculty, students, staff to better understand today’s incident. The mental and physical health of our students is always the most important to us.”

Gord Ferguson, the head of the school’s sculpture program, has since reportedly been let go from the school. When contacted by Global News, ACAD would not confirm any specific details.

“ACAD followed due process, and because it is a personal matter we are unable to comment at this time,” said Alex Middleton, ACAD’s media manager.
