Man accused of killing his father near Rimbey in Lacombe County

A father is dead and his son is in custody after an incident in Lacombe County on Monday afternoon.

Rimbey RCMP said officers were called at 4 p.m to a rural property south of the central Alberta town and found 61-year-old Patrick Alexander Freeman had been seriously injured.

Alberta Health Services said he was taken to the hospital in Rimbey in critical condition, and from there flown by STARS air ambulance to Calgary’s Foothills Medical Centre where he later died.

The victim’s 28-year-old son, Patrick William Freeman, was quickly arrested and charged with the first-degree murder of his father.

Patrick William Freeman, who lives in Sylvan Lake, is expected to appear in court in Red Deer on Wednesday.
