HALIFAX — Workers at Just Us Coffee Roasters have filed a complaint with the Nova Scotia Ministry of Labour alleging that their employer denies them 30 minute breaks on shifts over five hours.

The unnamed employees claim that the Labour Standard Code violation has happened numerous times between 2011 up until April 2013.

The complaint comes a month after two workers were let go by the coffee company. The employees said it was because they tried to unionize. Just Us management has repeatedly denied that the workers were let go for that reason but say that due to confidentiality concerns, they cannot release why the workers were let go.

The two employees filed a complaint with the Labour Board of Nova Scotia last month.
