Lockdown lifted at Jacob Hespeler HS in Cambridge, hold and secure also over at Centennial PS

Jacob Hespeler High School in Cambridge was placed in a lockdown on Tuesday afternoon, according to the Waterloo Region District School Board (WRDSB).

The board says it instituted the measure because it received an email which “was threatening in nature.”

An WRDSB spokesperson told Global News the email was received at 12:39 p.m. and the school was then placed under a hold and secure. A short time later that was elevated into a lockdown.

The board says that Waterloo Regional Police lifted the lockdown a short time later.

Nearby Centennial Public School was also been placed in a hold and secure as a precautionary measure which was also announced as being lifted mid-afternoon.
