Celebrating Okanagan’s Asian Heritage

Asian Heritage Month kicks off in Kelowna. Sara Gallaher

KELOWNA – Asian Heritage month has officially kicked off in the Okanagan.

China, Japan, India, the Philipines, Korea and Thailand are  just some of the Asian cultures which will be celebrated this May.

The month was originally declared by the Canadian government in 2002,  in the Okanagan the celebration will include movie nights, musical performances and exhibitions as a way to share the history and impact Asian Canadians have had on our country.

The closing showcase for Asian Heritage month will take place 5 p.m. – 9 p.m. May 25th at the New Life Auditorium in Kelowna.
