The Vancouver School Board has approved its latest budget for the coming school year.
The board has bridged a seven and a half million dollar shortfall, but there will still be some layoffs.

With a projected decline of one thousand students, about 45 teaching positions will be cut.
That’s because the budget is based on a generated figure due to enrolment.
The board has also voted to give the continuing education program one more year after it faced the chopping block.
The board will draw around a million dollars from the capital reserve to make ends meet.
