MONTREAL – The date has been decided.  The trial for accused killer Luka Magnotta is set to begin on Sept. 14, 2014.

Magnotta faces a charge of first-degree murder and four other counts in last May’s killing and dismembering of Jun Lin, a student from China.

Magnotta’s preliminary hearing ended two and-a-half weeks ago, with the judge ruling there was enough evidence to send the horrific case to trial.

The Crown has predicted the trial will likely begin some time next year.

Magnotta, a 30-year-old porn actor, was arrested in Berlin last June after an international manhunt.

Some of parts of Lin’s body were found in a Montreal park, while others were mailed to the headquarters of the federal Conservative and Liberal parties, as well as to two schools in Vancouver.
