The province will provide the latest flood forecast Saturday afternoon.
On Friday, the flood risk was downgraded and the spring’s Red River flood is now expected to be more on par with the one in 2006 and well below the floods of 2011 and 2009.
By Saturday morning, the first section of a Manitoba highway was forced to close due to overland flooding caused by frozen culverts.
Highway 242, east of Westbourne was closed early Saturday.
The province’s communication’s coordinator, Paul White, told Global News “the Amphibex machines are oiled and gassed and ready to be rolled out” if need be; however at this time, they are not needed.
White said communities are helping to decrease the risk of overland flooding by steaming culverts.
