Toronto Police Service seeking man after attempted kidnapping

TORONTO – Toronto Police Service are asking for the public’s help in locating a man allegedly connected to a foiled kidnapping attempt in Toronto earlier this week.

Police allege that on Thursday around 1 p.m., Eric Coplin-Duran, 18, and an unknown accomplice attempted to kidnap a man in the 2079 Lawrence Avenue West area.

The victim was allegedly approached by both men, who after engaging in a brief conversation with the victim attempted to force him into the back of a vehicle.

The victim managed to fend off his attackers before the assault was witnessed by a passer-by, who called out to the suspects.

Both men fled the scene in a vehicle.

Coplin-Duran is wanted on charges of conspiracy to commit an indictable offence, assault and attempted kidnapping.

He is considered dangerous, and authorities caution the public to call 9-1-1 rather than approach the suspect.

Police are also asking for help in identifying the other suspect, described as a black male.
