After issuing a news release last month that sought the public’s help in identifying a sexual assault suspect, Leduc RCMP said Tuesday “the incident was fabricated.”
On Feb. 25, RCMP released a sketch of a man after a woman said she was sexually assaulted Jan. 13 after meeting him through a dating app.

On Tuesday, RCMP said it determined, after a detailed investigation, that the incident was fabricated.
In a news release, RCMP said the matter has been resolved and no charges have been laid.
“Now that the investigation has been completed we would like to ensure the public that their safety was not at risk as a result of this incident,” Const. Bridget Morla said. “With the growing concern in the community, we thought it was important for the public to be updated.”
