Police say there is reason to suspect foul play in the disappearance of a Hamilton woman, who with connections to Kitchener and throughout the GTA.
29-year-old Monica Chisar was last seen by a friend on July 11th of last year in the area of Barton St. and Parkdale Ave.
Staff Sgt. Dave Oleniuk says that while Chisar is still considered missing, the case is now in the hands of the service’s major crimes unit.
Oleniuk says it is not out of character for Chisar to go on extended trips, stay with friends and to “be in and out of touch with family”, but he stresses that other factors have emerged that raise concern about her well-being.

He notes that in the past, when Chisar had disappeared for periods of time, she would maintain “an active profile on social media, and this was absent this time.”
Oleniuk confirms that Chisar has a history of drug use, worked in the past as an exotic dancer and escort, and also has a wide range of connections in the GTA, Kitchener and in Northern Ontario.
Oleniuk says investigators want “to talk to anyone who was associated with her”, by calling the Hamilton Police Major Crime Unit at 905-546-3829.
