A 20-year-old Hamilton man is facing drug and weapon charges after he allegedly attempted to evade police by running away.

Officers say that while on patrol at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, the man noted their presence as he was walking down the sidewalk on Wilson Street approaching Victoria Avenue. He then allegedly cut across five lanes of traffic in an attempt to evade the officers.

Police say they were able to catch up to the man and identified an outstanding arrest warrant for him for failure to appear in court.
