Woman sent to hospital for treatment after 12-hour standoff with Hamilton police

A 12-hour standoff between Hamilton police and a barricaded woman ended at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, according to authorities.

Police say they received a call to a residence in the area of Jackson and Queen streets about a “woman in distress.”

Emergency crews were on the scene during negotiations, which police say ended when they entered the home and apprehended the 34-year-old woman.

In an official statement, the Hamilton Police Service say they succeeded in their “ultimate goal… to reach a resolution that causes no harm to anyone.”

No injuries were reported.

The woman was transported to hospital for treatment.
