A program introduced last year to help first-time campers is being expanded to more Saskatchewan provincial parks.
The Camp-Easy program allows new campers to learn about camping without first having to purchase all the equipment.
It is also available to experienced campers who are looking for convenience with minimal preparation.
The program was piloted at three parks in 2018, and is being expanded to eight parks for 2019.
“With the large amount of interest in the program, we are pleased to offer this unique experience to more people in a variety of new locations throughout the province,” Parks, Culture and Sport Minister Gene Makowsky said in a statement.
Officials said all Camp Easy users need are clothes, blankets, food, and cooking supplies. Sites come with six sleeping cots, a camp stove and propane tank, lanterns, wash bins, camp chairs, and roasting sticks.
New for 2019 are yurts – large canvas structures set on wooden platforms. Those will have the same equipment as the Camp-Easy sites.
Camp-Easy sites can be booked through the online reservation system when it opens for the season and costs $65/night.

- Blackstrap: two tents
- Buffalo Pound: two tents
- Crooked Lake: one tent
- Echo Valley: two tents, one yurt
- Good Spirit Lake: one tent, one yurt
- Narrow Hills: one yurt
- Meadow Lake: two yurts
- Saskatchewan Landing: two tents
