Waterloo Regional Police are encouraging residents of the university district to be cautious after two alleged incidents were recently reported on Hickory Street.
On Monday, police released details of an alleged incident in which a woman reported spotting a man watching her through her bedroom window at around 2 a.m.

“We’ve received one report of a male peering through a bedroom window and another incident of an unknown person entering a home through an unlocked door and (startling) a resident who was asleep,” Const. Ashley Dietrich said.
Dietrich told Global News that both incidents occurred early Sunday morning in the same area.
“We are continuing to investigate whether the incidents are related,” she explained.
“We are warning people in the area to be extra vigilant and mindful of your surroundings. Talk to your neighbours and ensure that your doors are locked and your blinds are closed.”

The man who was allegedly seen looking through the window is described as six feet tall and 210 pounds and was wearing a dark winter jacket with a fur-trimmed hood and light-coloured pants.

“If something similar has happened to them, we encourage them to call police immediately and to provide a description, if possible, so we can try and identify (the suspect) as quickly as possible,” she said.
