Rural Manitoban collects $50K in scratch ticket win

A Manitoba woman is $50,000 richer after hitting it big on a scratch ticket.

Jeanne Werhun, from the community of Narol, near Birds Hill Provincial Park, bought her $3 Crossword Zing ticket at the Birds Hill Sobeys store.

“I scratched the ticket and thought I won $1,000,” said Werhun.

“I took a closer look and was shocked. $50,000! It’s such a surreal experience!”

Werhun said she plans on using her winnings to pay off some bills and share with her family.

“After that,” she said, “I might take a look at booking a vacation somewhere.”
