Record attendance at Regina, Moose Jaw casinos

REGINA – A record number of visitors were hitting the gaming table and seeing shows at casinos in Regina and Moose Jaw last year.

SaskGaming reported 3.6 million people visited the casinos it those cities during 2012, up from 3.5 million in 2011.

Twyla Meredith, President and CEO of SaskGaming, attributes the increase to providing an outstanding guest experience.

“We concentrated on modernizing gaming operations to support increased efficiency and effectiveness,” said Meredith.

“Enhancements at Casino Regina included centralized cash desks, an automated parking system and a new ticketing system for the Show Lounge.”

Overall, SaskGaming reported net earnings of $52.6 million on revenue of $137.2 million. Fifty per cent was transferred to the general revenue fund to support the First Nations trust and community initiatives fund, a portion of which will be provided to the Metis development fund.

A dividend distribution of $21 million was also given to Crown Investments Corporation.
