A Cobourg man faces an assault with a weapon charge following an alleged altercation with another man on Wednesday.
Cobourg Police Service say the victim was assaulted with a solid glass ashtray and was taken to Northumberland Hills Hospital with minor injuries.
Stephen Liggins, 44, of Cobourg, was arrested and charged with assault with a weapon.
He was subsequently released on a promise to appear and an undertaking. No court date was provided.
