Edmonton – A man has died following a crash northwest of Edmonton Monday afternoon.

Morinville RCMP say the driver of an SUV went through a stop sign at the intersection of Highway 44 and Highway 633 shortly after 5:00 p.m. Monday when it was hit on its passenger side by a pickup truck.

A passenger of the SUV died at the scene.

The driver of the SUV was taken to hospital by STARS air ambulance, where he remains in stable condition.

The driver of the truck was not injured.

Police say alcohol, road and weather conditions don’t appear to be factors in the crash.

The Morinville RCMP and a RCMP Collision Analyst are continuing with the investigation.

Police aren’t releasing the identity of the victim.
