Two people killed in collision on Highway 44

Morinville RCMP are investigating a fatal collision northwest of Edmonton.

Officers say two people were killed in a collision between a minivan and an SUV.

The collision happened on Highway 44, approximately two kilometres south of Villeneuve, just before 1:00p.m. Sunday.

The lone occupant of the van was killed, as well as a passenger in the SUV.

RCMP say two other people in the SUV were taken for medical treatment. There is no word on their injuries.

Speed and alcohol are not considered to be factors in the collision however, officers believe poor road conditions may have been a factor.

The victim’s names are not being released at this time.
