Nova Scotia police say a 58-year-old man was killed after being struck as he crossed a street in New Glasgow, N.S.

Police say they responded with firefighters and paramedics to a 911 call at about 7:10 p.m. Monday about the accident on East River Road.

They say they believe the man from New Glasgow was crossing the street when the driver of an SUV hit him.

He was taken to hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Police are investigating and have asked anyone with information to contact them.
