Three people have been charged after a shooting in northern Saskatchewan that left one person dead and another in hospital.
RCMP said the shooting happened Saturday morning at a home on the Montreal Lake Cree Nation.
Officers found a 16-year-old boy at the home with a gunshot wound. He was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police determined an altercation had taken place and a least one gun was fired.
A black car seen leaving the home was found by Prince Albert RCMP on Highway 2 near the Christopher Lake turnoff.
Officers said they chased the car for a short distance and two men then fled on foot.
Trina Bird, 25, was found wounded and unresponsive by officers in the car and was declared dead at the scene.
The two men were located after tracked by police dogs.
Wesley Eugene Lachance, Brandon Lee Corrigal, and Jeremy Wade Charles are facing weapon-related charges.
Lachance and Corrigal are also charged with flight from police.
All three remain in custody after appearing in court Monday.
Police said an autopsy will be conducted to determine Bird’s cause of death, and forensic examinations of the home and car are being carried out.
Montreal Lake Cree Nation is roughly 220 kilometres north of Saskatoon.
