2nd person dies after head-on crash near Millet

A head-on crash near Millet, Alta., has left two people dead and sent one other person to hospital on Thursday night.

The RCMP said officers were called to a collision on Highway 2A and Township Road 471 just after 6:30 p.m.

A van heading south collided with a car heading north.

“One of the vehicles involved had a sole occupant, a female who was declared deceased on scene,” police said in a news release. She was 68 years old.

RCMP said Friday morning the 22-year-old woman driving the other vehicle, who was taken to hospital Thursday night, had also died from her injuries. There was also a 15-year-old girl in the van. She remains in hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries, RCMP said Friday.

The cause of the crash is still being investigated.

Millet is located about 55 kilometres south of Edmonton.
