This land is West Kelowna’s land

A linear park will get considerably larger, thanks to a land donation to the District of West Kelowna announced Monday.

The 3.6 hectare property is adjacent to a section of the Glen Canyon Regional Park.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

It belonged to a Victoria based development company and is zoned for medium density multiple housing. But the company never intended to develop the property, which it affectionately called ‘The Parkland’ and that’s what it will become.

The donated land, valued at $225,000, will be left mostly in its natural state but the West Kelowna mayor says a walking trail through the property will likely be improved.
