CALGARY – A woman in her 30s is dead and three others are injured, after a fatal head-on crash on the TransCanada highway just west of Valley Ridge Blvd on Sunday morning.
Police say the woman was travelling eastbound when she lost control, crossed the median, and slid into oncoming traffic.
She collided head-on with a westbound travelling Audi.
Several witnesses saw the crash around 7:15 am and alerted police.

Fire crews pulled three people from the Audi: a woman in her 30s and her two children, a five-year-old boy and an eight-year-old girl.
All three were taken to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
However, EMS says there was nothing they could do for the other driver.
She died on the scene.
Some witnesses saw the woman driving towards the city leading up to the crash and told police she may have been driving too fast for the road conditions.
Sgt. Joerg Gottschling of the Calgary Police traffic unit says that the icy conditions contributed to the crash. “It’s kind of that curling rink, pebbly ice, as a result of our unusual weather conditions with the moist air. And the roads are extremely slippery, which no doubt caused the woman to lose control.”
Police say the condition of the mother and her two children has improved in hospital, where they are with the father.
