Man dies after 2-vehicle head-on crash involving ambulance in Brampton

Peel Regional Police say a man has died after a two-vehicle crash involving an ambulance in Brampton.

A police spokesperson told Global News emergency crews were called to McMurchy Avenue and Queen Street West just before 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Police said it’s believed the Peel Paramedics ambulance was waiting to turn onto McMurchy Avenue from Queen Street West when a BMW crashed into it head-on.

The spokesperson said the driver of the BMW sustained critical injuries and later died.

Officers said the paramedics in the ambulance received minor injuries and were taken to a local hospital to be checked.

The major collision bureau was called in to assist with the investigation into the crash. Police said speed is believed to be a factor in the crash.
