Chuck Davidson named Manitoba Chambers of Commerce president and CEO

WINNIPEG – Chuck Davidson is moving from the Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce to become the Manitoba Chambers of Commerce president and CEO.

Davidson, the Winnipeg chamber’s vice-president, will officially replace Graham Starmer, who will retire this month after 18 years with the chamber, at the Manitoba Chambers of Commerce annual general meeting in early May.

He plans to meet with the heads of chambers across the province as he steps into his new role, “learning the issues and gaining a better understanding” of their needs, he said.

“I think you follow the course to a certain extent,” he said of following a long-term president in the role.

Davidson has represented Manitoba on the Chamber of Commerce Executives of Canada and taken part in national policy committees with the Canadian Chamber of Commerce.

“Chuck brings a wealth of experience from his years within the chamber network,” Manitoba Chambers of Commerce chair Carol Paradine said in a news release. “His leadership and communication skills will be integral in meeting the chamber’s mission.”

Davidson is also president of the Waverley Heights Community Centre and has been on the boards of the Riel Community Centre and the General Council of Winnipeg Community Centres.

The Manitoba Chambers of Commerce is the umbrella organization for the province’s chambers. Its membership comprises chambers of commerce and corporate members.
