EDMONTON – RCMP have laid charges following a pepper spray attack on a 74 year-old Walmart greeter in Spruce Grove.

The senior was working the front entrance shortly before 11 p.m. Tuesday night, when the door alarm sounded. She asked the two men leaving the store with a vehicle battery and a sub-woofer speaker for their receipt.

That’s when one of the males allegedly swore at her and pepper-sprayed her in the face.

Police were called, and when they arrived a strong smell of pepper spray still lingered in the air. People in the vicinity also had watery eyes.

The 74 year-old worker was treated by EMS, and is now receiving support from the Spruce Grove/Stony Plain RCMP Victim Services Unit.

Some shoppers who had noticed the commotion managed to get the licence plate of the men’s truck. RCMP in the area were able to track down the vehicle, and arrested the two men.
