UPDATE:
Police say an ostrich died alongside Highway 97 in Kelowna on Thursday after it somehow escaped the trailer it was being hauled in.
The incident took place at approximately 11:05 a.m., along the 2400 block of Highway 97, and involved a truck that was towing a horse trailer that contained several ostriches. The ostrich that escaped did so while the truck and trailer were in motion.

The injured ostrich was treated on the sidewalk, but police said it died prior to the arrival of a veterinarian.

Commuters along Highway 97 in Kelowna were witness to an odd event on Thursday: Chaos and an ostrich on the sidewalk.
The ostrich is dead after apparently falling out of the back of a truck.
