SYDNEY, N.S. – Minimum wage earners in Nova Scotia received a raise of 1.5 per cent on Monday.
The provincial minimum increased to $10.30 an hour, while the wage for someone who has less than three months of experience also increased to $9.80 an hour.

The increase was a recommendation to government from the minimum wage review committee, which includes representatives from business and labour.
In its report, the committee noted that in 2011, an estimated 23,600 employees earned minimum wage in Nova Scotia, which represents about six per cent of workers.
The majority of such workers are in the retail sector followed by food and accommodation industries and most are under the age of 25.
