Pickup truck hits tree, Main Street closed

WINNIPEG – Police closed the southbound lanes of Main Street at Seaforth Avenue before 9 a.m. to investigate a crash Monday morning.

A pickup truck hit a tree near an apartment building before 7 a.m. and multiple emergency vehicles responded.

Fire crews removed the pickup truck’s roof to get a person out.

One southbound lane remained open at 7 a.m. and a second lane was opened before 8 a.m., but police closed Main Street southbound and put a detour in place just before 9 a.m.

Traffic was rerouted to Henderson Highway via Chief Peguis Trail. Main street reopened to traffic later Monday afternoon. No one from the police service was available to provide details Monday on what happened, how serious the injuries were or if any charges are expected to be laid.
