Sexual assault victims living in the Fraser Health Region now have 24/7 access to immediate support services. The Surrey Mobile Assault Response Team or ‘SMART’ is the only program of its kind in the country. Working in multiple cities in the lower mainland, the team is ready to help victims year-round, whether in person or on the phone.
SMART personally guides victims through the navigation of complex emergency medical, legal and social services. Reporting the incident to the police is not a requirement of SMART but a seven per cent increase in police reporting has resulted from victims using SMART. Since its establishment, the number of women and girls accessing SMART’s services has doubled.
You can contact SMART by phone at 604-583-1295 or via the team’s website www.smartalk.ca
