French photographer Thierry Cohen shows major urban centers without any light pollution in his series of stunning photographs called “Darkened Cities.” Cohen took pictures of major cities around the world by day—with minimal light distraction. He also travelled to remote deserts and plains at corresponding latitudes, to shoot the images of night sky, according to Smithsonian.com. He then created seamless composites of the cities and skyscapes.
