According to Frontenac Paramedic Services seven patients ranging in age from 12 to 25 were taken to hospital from the scene of serious collision early Tuesday morning. One patient has life threatening injuries and the others have non-life threatening injuries.
Police were called to a single vehicle crash involving a light standard on Princess St. near the Kingston Dodge Chrysler Dealership at 3 a.m. Tuesday morning.
According to police, a pre-teen youth in the front passenger seat sustained life-threatening injuries and has been airlifted to CHEO in Ottawa. Four other youths were treated at Kingston General Hospital for minor injuries and have since been released.
The Kingston Police Forensic Unit was called to the scene to help in the investigation and a drone is being used to help reconstruct what happened in the moments leading up to impact.
Police are reporting that Princess Street is now open, after being closed for most of the morning in both directions between Taylor Kidd Boulevard and Portsmouth Avenue.
