Police in Cape Breton say public safety is not at risk after a shot was fired on the island’s east side on Thursday.
In a news release, Cape Breton Regional Police said they are on the scene along Main-a-Dieu Road in response to the call.

A section of road has been closed as a result, according to police, and they expect to reopen it soon.
A forensic and canine unit is on hand to help officers determine the source of the shot.
