South Simcoe police are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect after two break-ins were reported in the Cookstown and Bradford areas on Monday.
According to police, on Monday at around 4 p.m., officers received a call from a woman in the Church Street and King Street South area of Cookstown. The woman told police there was a man in her home with a handgun.
Police say when the man saw the woman he fled the scene in a vehicle.
According to police, later that afternoon officers received a report of a second break-in in the 13th Line and Highway 400 area of Bradford West Gwillimbury.
Officers say the resident arrived home to find their house had been broken into and reported numerous items had been taken.
Police say the break-in occurred sometime between 3:45 p.m. and 4:50 p.m.
Officers believe the suspect is the same in both break-ins.
Police have described the suspect as a man, with a thin beard. He was seen wearing a dark-coloured Under Armour hat, white T-shirt, black pants, black running shoes and sunglasses.
According to police, he was walking slowly.
Officers have described the suspect’s vehicle as a black Dodge Ram Dually pickup truck, with orange lights on the roof and cab, with long, chrome running boards, chrome front grill and black rims.
