Grand River Transit will have increased service on some routes beginning Labour Day

With back to school creeping on the horizon, there will be several changes to Grand River Transit service riders need to be aware of that will begin around Labour Day.

Beginning on Sept. 3, Route 10 will be known as Route 10 Pioneer. The route will have extra service with buses leaving Fairview Mall every 15 minutes from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The route will be split into two branches with the Route 10 following the same route every 30 minutes and 10A now serving stops on Old Carriage Drive and Homer Watson Boulevard every 30 minutes on weekdays.

There will also be increased service on Saturday night and Sunday.

Weekday evening service on Bechtel Drive on will be provided by Route 16 Strasburg buses.

Most of the other changes will come into effect the following day.

Route 26 Trillium will begin service on Sept. 4 and will operate at Forest Glen terminal and Huron Business Park during peak periods.

The new route replaces Route 33 service along McIntyre and Trillium drives.

Route 33 will also see an increase in bus frequency on Tuesday and will be extended to Block Line Station, Rosenberg and Sunrise Centre. The extension will replace Route 78 Hansen.

In Waterloo, Route 73 will be extended to Rideau River Street.

The route will be altered to serve Northfield Station via Kumpf/Randall. It will connect to Route 200 at Northfield Station.

There will also be changes to Route 76 in Kitchener.

Route 76 in Kitchener will also be extended further into Doon South with extensions along Doon South Drive, Thomas Slee Drive and New Dundee Road as well as along Robert Ferrie Drive to the roundabout at Evans Pond Crescent/South Creek Drive.

Routes 16 and 53 will have new evening service every 30 minutes while Route 75 will now run on weekends. Route 110 will see increased service and will leave Conestoga College every 30 minutes in the evening.
