Two people from Waterloo region were recently able to claim big lottery prizes from OLG.
Kitchener grandfather Charles Wharbickler initially believed he scored $10,000 on an Instant Crossword ticket but after taking it to a store to have it validated, he realized he had actually won $100,000.

“I thought I won $10,000, so when I realized it was actually $100,000, I had to double check. It was unbelievable,” Wharbickler said.
With four children and eight grandchildren, he says he intends to use the winnings to help take care of his family.
“I’ll sleep a bit easier with this win. All my worries are now gone,” Wharbickler said.

He purchased the winning ticket at Real Canadian Superstore on Highland Road in Kitchener.
Cambridge native Taletta Sheard won $202,003.60 in the June 8 Lotto Max draw.
She purchased the winning ticket at Sobeys on Cedar Street in Cambridge.
