U.S. heatwave

The National Weather Service issued excessive heat warnings for 12 U.S. states. Heat records across the country were broken over 2,600 times in the month of July. Scorching temperatures even helped send U.S. retail sales soaring by five per cent over one year ago. The change was due in part to millions of Americans who flocked to air conditioned shopping malls for some relief from the heat.
