Investigators have confirmed that a body was found inside an East Vancouver home destroyed by fire.
The fire started Tuesday morning in a home at Skeena Street and East 3rd Avenue.
Thick black smoke could be seen pouring into the sky.

The homeowner said she smelled smoke and woke up her son and husband, telling them to get out.
“We’ve lost our home, but we’re all alive, and that’s the most important,” she told Global News.
While the family managed got out safely, the tenant in the downstairs suite was unaccounted for.
Fire crews didn’t find anyone in their primary search of the home, but the body was discovered later in the day. The BC Coroners Service is on the scene.
A black cat named Mamo is also still missing. Neighbours said they saw the cat running away from the flames.
The cause of the fire is not known at this time.
No other homes were damaged.
