Police are investigating after a serious collision in Orillia left one teenager dead.

According to Orillia OPP, on July 26 just after 2 a.m., a vehicle driving fast along James Street between West Street South and Memorial Avenue, lost control and struck a telephone pole.

Police say four teenagers between the ages of 16 and 18 were in the vehicle at the time of the collision.

According to police, a 16-year-old teenage boy was taken to a Toronto area hospital by County of Simcoe Paramedics, however, he died as a result of the injuries he sustained during the collision.

Officers say the other teenagers were taken to an Orillia area hospital by paramedics to be treated for minor injuries.

According to police, central region technical collision investigators have been called in to investigate further.
