In the early hours of the morning on Thursday, Kingston police arrested a man suspected to be involved in a break-in two years earlier.
Police say that in August of 2016, a 43-year-old man and a woman broke into a locked compound of a store on Princess Street. During the break-in, police say another person confronted the couple, and they both fled. The woman allegedly jumped in a car and was apprehended by police, while the man allegedly escaped on foot.

Police say that two years later, on June 23, 2018, the man popped up on a local bank’s surveillance footage — he was allegedly caught using a stolen debit card, making what police say were fraudulent deposits in the account and taking the money out for himself. The man allegedly profited with over $7,500 in fraudulent deposits from the stolen debit card.
Const. Cam Mack said that officers were following leads about the man, and when they found out where he was located on Thursday morning, they rushed to the home on Rideau Street at 3 a.m. to arrest him.
The 43-year-old Kingston man was charged with break and enter, possession of and use of debit card obtained by an offence, fraud over $5,000, and five counts of breach probation. He will appear in court for a bail hearing on Friday.
