Some new drivers in Saskatchewan received a failing grade in June.

SGI said 46 tickets were issued during the month for failing to have a supervising driver with them.

Another 25 tickets were handed out for not following restrictions or riding without the appropriate endorsement, while five tickets were issued for driving under the age of 16 without authorization.

New motorcyclists were also under the spotlight, with three being ticketed for not displaying the appropriate placard on their motorcycle – “L” for learner or “N” for novice.

SGI said the results highlight the need for new drivers to continue studying the rules of the road, know their restrictions, and practice with a supervising driver.

Police continue to focus on drivers speeding through construction zones for July’s traffic safety spotlight.
