Saskatoon police recover stolen car used in armed robbery, arrest 2

Saskatoon police had to use a tire deflation device to stop a stolen car previously reported to have been used in an armed robbery.

An officer spotted the 2007 Chevrolet Monte Carlo being driven in the area of 25th Street East and 3rd Avenue North at 3:15 a.m. CT Wednesday morning.

The officer was informed by dispatch the car had previously been used in an armed robbery, but was unable to stop it.

A tire deflation device was successfully used and the car was driven into a ditch off of Highway 16, coming to rest in heavy brush, east of the cloverleaf overpass.

The driver and a passenger exited the vehicle and fled into the brush, where they were tracked down and arrested.

A 32-year-old man is charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000, evading police and breach of undertaking.

A 26-year-old woman is charged with breach of undertaking.

Details about the armed robbery have not been disclosed by police.
