A Saskatoon Fire Department investigator believes an overnight garage fire was deliberately set.

Firefighters were called to 350 Ave. S South just after 2 a.m. local time Tuesday and arrived to find the single-detached garage engulfed in flames.

An overhead power line was also down and sparking from the intense heat of the fire.

Crews started knocking down the flames and Saskatoon Light and Power was called in to de-energize the line.

After the fire was brought under control, crews searched the garage to ensure no one was inside and to deal with hot spots.

A fire investigator said the cause of the fire was incendiary and resulted in $10,000 in damage.
