Two people had to be rescued in the Okanagan Falls area after rolling their ATV down a steep embankment Monday.

Penticton Search and Rescue (PENSAR) said more than a dozen members were called into action shortly before 6 p.m. following reports of a woman losing control of her ATV before rolling down the embankment.

She was located 40 feet off a forest service road near Okanagan Falls.

A helicopter was dispatched to the area to help with the rescue.

Officials said that while the rescue was underway, a 10-year-old boy appeared at the scene. He too was riding on the ATV before going down the embankment and was treated at the scene for a fracture.

The boy and woman were taken to hospital. The woman’s injuries are said to be serious.
